GLASS CLOUD

2O23

borosilicate glass, mirror, water

Glass cloud explores the delicate balance between gentleness and force in the natural world. Created during an introductory course in borosilicate glass, the piece captures the ephemeral beauty of a cloud suspended in air, paired with the sudden, jagged energy of a lightning bolt.

The sculpture hovers above a mirrored surface, its glass branches and tendrils echoing both root systems and strikes of thunder.
The transparency and fragility of borosilicate glass are pushed to express dualities—lightness and impact, softness and sharpness, tranquility and tension.

This work reflects my fascination with how glass, a rigid and breakable material, can be manipulated to embody opposing forces, mirroring the contradictions often found in nature itself.
